Dear Su Dan: I have heart that you had been in America with you parents. But I'm sorry to heart that you couldn't adapt to the life in America. So,here is some of my suggestions.First, you are supported to learn English well so that you can make communication with foreign better.Second, you have to make some friends because friendship can make you forget loneliness.Last but not least, you can take part in all kinds of activities, which will make you life more interesting. Yours, Li Hua。
I am in the country after completion of primary, secondary, to the United States in 2006 on a secondary school grade 11 (equivalent to the domestic High School). Before I went to the United States in, often heard people say that the U.S. secondary education is the freedom of playing without any pressure to learn. Their high school math, physics, level of education of China's first day. American students practical hands-on ability, but not as good as the Chinese students a solid basic knowledge of 。
。 However, the U.S. high school students living in the end what? They have learned in high school, what? They do? For Chinese students are very familiar, is very abstract. I am very curious to learn a new side of the ocean of life, quite frankly, very long for a no pressure, very relaxed way of learning. To the United States after the discovery, in fact, the U.S. secondary education is not as we imagined mysterious and simple, is not so picturesque. From the beginning of exposure to a period of time perception, I feel different with the Chinese way of education, not only in secondary education, and the whole education system there is a difference. U.S. education system is focusing on social responsibility and physical quality of student training. Students not only learn each day, the school and arrange a lot of time for physical exercise (basketball, olives, football, athletics, swimming, boxing, etc.) and social practice and so on, to develop students' comprehensive ability. Therefore, the arrangement would be a reasonable time, comprehensive and effective development is the essence of the American education system. U.S. high school, regardless of arts, science, and the use of credit. Compulsory mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, history, elective courses are very rich, telecommunications, transportation, industry, agriculture, water conservancy, construction, driving, commercial, fashion, food, environmental, economic, legal, secretarial, language, home economics , shipping, maintenance and other areas, any student interested in the content or career needs, have the appropriate courses to choose from. Can be said that the U.S. education is for students to learn the fate and goal is to locate in employment. Not only that, the school is focusing on the teaching facilities, services, students, school library open to students throughout the day, readily available, copy, download data.In the classroom, the United States, education is embodied in the head. Classroom discussion is like a battlefield, each student can put forward their own different opinions, the students in the classroom with the teacher arguing is common. American students grew accustomed to a large crowd to express their point of view, the more public, more eloquent. In the classroom, we are very good at expressing their views, or even saying nothing was wrong anyway, so we freely in class, the classroom atmosphere was very lively. This is not just a surface active, more teachers scripted, one conversation is much better, this exchange heuristic teaching methods for students to truly become the masters of the classroom to take the initiative to think, to identify the diversity of common sense.First few days, I like all the time in class when it was domestic, with a notebook to take notes carefully. It was discovered that the teacher's pen and paper are placed on the podium, do students feel free to take notes, I feel very human. In basic education, compared to the relative weakening of the domestic purposes, not for every student in the spoon-fed the repeated memory. However, they start from Year 10 or earlier will be a lot for students, such as computer web design, simple circuit board design, robot design and production, simulation and other technology components of major bridge construction, capacity demanding course. The vast majority of American high school students work after school much, completing school work, the day will have more time to make their own thing. As, to enjoy life, exercise, entertainment, parties, etc., is very ordinary things. This is reminiscent of China two thousand years ago the great educator Confucius advocated "ritual, music, shooting, defense, and books, a few" other six arts master, all-round development, which is advocated in today's China should learn from the quality education . Some American students will use their leisure time is to do some study or something of interest. In this environment, people no longer learn the machine, no longer have the emotional weariness, and everyone to learn and grow in joy, in learning to be happy. For example, my students do the robot Gohn involved in the de。
Dear Susan,
Thank you for your last letter. I'm sorry to hear that you cannot get used to the life in America and feel lonely there. I have three suggestions for you. First, you should learn English hard in order to communicate well with the people there. Second, you should make some friends there, which can make you forget the loneliness. Moreover, you could ask the teachers to help you. Tell them your problems, and I think they will tell you how to solve them. Write to me soon.
Best wishes.
Yours
Li Mei

Dear John,
This summer I will go to study at London University, but I don't know how to adapt myself to the new life.
I hear that many freshmen are at a loss what to do when they are in a foreign country. Feeling lonely and homesick, they find it much harder to get used to the new culture, diet and climate. Most of them can't take good care of themselves in their everyday life. Besides, it is difficult to find a satisfying host and fully understand what the teachers teach in class since they speak English all the time.
Could you tell me how to deal with these problems so that I will be able to suit the university life in the future?
Yours,
Li Hua

Happy Life at School
Catherine Wang arrived in the UK in January 1999. In order to develop and extend her English language skills, she spent the first few months at Sherborne International College. Then she joined Aldenham to take a two-year'A'level course, which will enable her to enter a British university.
Catherine found that the emphasis on maths and science in China had equipped her well for two of her“A” levels----maths and physics. To challenge① her imagination, she chose art as her third subject. She said it was quite rewarding② and challenging.
Although Catherine left a little, lonely at first, she said she was very grateful for the friendliness shown to her by the teachers at Aldenham.
Catherine has found the international mix of cultures very refreshing③.As well as making friends, both boys and girls from a number of cultures, Catherine found it comforting to meet other Chinese pupils at the school.
The house facilities④include a separate girls' sitting room and the use of a kitchen, though, she said the school food was good.
She is a hard working pupil and values the opportunity to study in England. She hopes her results will enable her parents to be proud of her achievements. Catherine plans to study at a leading university in the UK before returning to China to work.
Summing up her time at the school, Catherine said,“I have been very happy at Aldenham and I know I will never forget the experience. I have learnt a great deal from the English culture and my English has improved enormously⑤. The school has been good at recognizing the needs of foreign students. For example, we went out as a crowd last week to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It was great.”
Da Ming is a New Zealand middle school student of Chinese descent. He was accustomed to the leisure life style in Wellington, the capital of this beautiful island country, despite of the fact that he was a hard working boy back there. Last year he came to Beijing as an exchange student. He enjoyed the fascinating sights, the real Chinese food, and friendly schoolmates, whilst struggled a bit with the school life in China.First is the pressure. He found that all the students started early everyday. By eight o'clock they have already finished the morning exercises, the breakfast and started the first class, whilst back home he should be just waking up at this time. The classes were intense and the homework loads looked dauntingly large. Everyone seemed to be habitually running at the fast paces. Then it was the monotony. After the day's classes there were hours for the students to play, to exercise sports, or to go socializing in various clubs, but Da Ming saw many were still burying themselves in texts and exercise books in classrooms or library. These students were also actively discussing some hot topics, to his disappointment that nearly all of them were on the study contents. Not many top students would like to spend two hours on weekend to join Da Ming for a movie night. Finally it was the obedience. Different from NZ students, the Chinese counterparts mind their grades excessively. In order to perform to the best, they listened and followed every word in their teachers' directions. They seldom do any thing that was not suggested by the teachers, and everybody was trying hard to be a “good boy” or “good girl”. This puzzled Da Ming greatly as in New Zealand the students were fairly independent, and they believed that there were “many ways that lead to Rome” as long as you were sure doing it right.Da Ming loves this country where his culture is rooted in, but he still needs some time to get used to it. He considers himself now as not quite settled into the school life here.。
