1、Traffic safety is everybody's business. Records show that every year a lot of people die in traffic accidents. Some of the accidents are due to mechanical problems. However, most of them are the results of careless and reckless driving, and could be avoided. A lot of people disregard traffic signals and rules. They drive regardless of speed limits, run through red lights, drive in the wrong direction, talk and laugh while driving, and turn as they wish without giving signals. They don't slow down while approaching crossroads. So many people violate traffic regulations that we cannot put too much emphasis on the importance of traffic safety. Only when everybody thinks traffic safety is everybody's business can we be safe driving on roads and walking on sidewalks.2、I am often very afraid to cross large wide streets. I always go to the traffic light and use the crosswalk, but many times I have been frightened. When the light changes to green, I still need to look both directions to check the traffic On many occasions a speeding motorcycle or bicycle or once a truck drove past the red light and across the pedestrian's When I have my bicycle, I get off and walk across the street, but always someone crosses the red light. Once at the intersection near National Taiwan University I saw an accident: a taxi had stopped for the light, and another truck came from behind and did not stop. For safety, it is very important for everyone to obey the traffic laws.3、Do you have any idea as for how many people lost their lives in traffic accidents in a year? No idea about that? Ok, I'll tell you. 100,000 lives! Only in China. This is to say, every 5 minutes, one man lost his life. One hundred thousand people die because of traffic accidents! One hundred thousand lives mean one hundred thousand damaged families. Why does traffic accident happen? Do we have traffic regulations? Sure, we have enough regulations. But still accidents happen. Figures show 80% of deaths in traffic accidents is the result of traffic regulation violation, by pedestrians and non-motor vehicle riders! Next time when you are on the street, look around you and see if ignorance of regulations happens. Although more and more people realized the importance of the rules, still many ignore them. Accidents happen also because motor vehicle drivers ignore the rules. Some drive too fast. Some have no driving license. Some drive after drinking or even after being drunk. Every one on the globe knows red light is stop. However, in China, this just depends. Depends on what? Depends on where, depends on who and depends on when. Red means pass where no police on guard; red means pass where it is far away from city center. Red means pass to some high government officials; red means pass to some people who think they have plenty of money; red mans pass to some pedestrians who are brave enough to think they can beat the metal vehicle. Red means pass when it is off work hours; red means pass when there is no inspections from high officials and red means pass when you drank much alcohol. Is it so difficult to observe traffic regulations? No! Never! Nothing in the world is so simple as to observe traffic regulations:。

Mass Transit Encourages Exercise and Weight Loss City planners and citizens alike frequently push for better public transportation. They argue that it can lessen traffic and reduce emissions from cars. Now there's a new reason to be gung-ho about public transit—it helps make people skinnier. That's according to a study published in the August issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.Researchers surveyed communities in Charlotte, North Carolina. One survey was done before the city had finished building a new light rail system, and the second was done from 12 to 18 months after the rail's completion. They asked about the residents' level of physical activity, body mass and use of public transportation before and after the light rail. Turns out that people who started using light rail to commute had a significant average weight loss over that time—equivalent to about six and a half pounds for a five-foot-five person. The users were also 81 percent less likely to become obese over the time scale surveyed. The researchers say that an environment based on mass transit influences health, because rail users get exercise walking to and from stops. And since illness is costly, here's another way public transit saves money.

With the development of the modern technology, private car is no longer a luxurious thing for ordinary people, more and more people drive to work instead of going by bus. The popularization of private car has many advantages.First, it is very convenient and time-saving ,you can drive your own car to the workplace instead of waiting for the crowded bus and afraid of being late for working.Second,it can also improve the traffic structure, and help to mitigate the stress of the traffic.Third, the popularization of private car can help to promote the car industry and any other interrelated industries. I believe that in the future the private car will become the most important vehicle and we cann't live without it.2. 用电安全: Rules for using electricity the right way.1). DON'T plug a bunch of stuff into one outlet or extension cord. It could damage the electrical system in your house or even cause a fire.2). DO ask grown-ups to put safety caps on all unused electrical outlets. Covering outlets will also help save energy by stopping cold drafts.3). DON'T yank an electrical cord from the wall. Pulling on a cord can damage the appliance, the plug or the outlet.4). DO make sure all electric cords are tucked away, neat and tidy. Pets might chew on electrical cords, and people might trip and fall.5). DO ask a grown-up for help when you need to use something that uses electricity.6). DO look up and look out for power lines before you climb a tree. The electricity can go right through the tree branch - and right through you!7). DON'T ever climb the fence around an electrical substation. If a ball or pet gets inside the fence, ask a grown-up to call the electric company - they'll come and get it out for you. 8). DO remind your mom or dad to watch out for power lines when they're using a ladder, chainsaw or other outdoor equipment.9). DO keep electrical stuff far away from water. Most electrical accidents around the house happen when people use electricity near water.10). DON'T fly a kite near power lines. The kite and the string may conduct electricity-sending it right through you to the ground.。
